Why weight alone can mislead
Daily weight fluctuates from water retention, food volume, sodium, and hormones — often by more than any real change in fat mass. Looking at weight in isolation can make good progress feel invisible, or normal fluctuation feel alarming.
What else to track
Waist and hip measurements, progress photos taken under consistent lighting, and an estimated body fat percentage (using something like our Body Fat Percentage Calculator) all give a fuller picture of what's changing.
How often to check in
Weekly averages smooth out daily noise better than single readings. For circumference measurements and body fat estimates, every 3-4 weeks is usually enough to see a meaningful trend.
